Team Rocket Returns

Series: EX

Release date: November 8, 2004

Cards: 109 (2 secret)

Set code: EX7

Gold Star cards reach English packs here, three of them, marked by a shiny colour scheme, a gold star in place of the usual rarity symbol and part of the Pokémon spilling outside the artwork window. Masakazu Fukuda painted all three, Treecko, Torchic and Mudkip, and they close the checklist. Above them sit eleven Rocket's Pokémon-ex, printed as Darkness whatever the species really is, with spikes worked into the frame and the Team Rocket logo under the attack box. One of the eleven, Rocket's Scizor ex, is the first Pokémon-ex able to evolve from another Pokémon-ex, namely Rocket's Scyther ex. Reverse holos change with this expansion as well, picking up the set logo in the bottom right of the artwork, which later releases kept. The two theme decks are named for Jessie and James, and Japan had the same expansion three weeks earlier under the title Rocket Gang Strikes Back. Team Rocket Returns (EX7) was released on November 8, 2004 in the EX series, with 109 cards plus 2 secret rares. Its most expensive card is Treecko Gold Star #109 (Gold Star), at $4,051.17 (median of 6 sales over 30 days, October 1, 2026).
