Release date: May 9, 2005

Cards: 106 (1 secret)

Set code: EX9

Basic Energy arrives holographic for the first time in an English expansion, six cards taking the last numbers of the printed list, and in booster boxes one of them replaced the reverse holo in every third pack. The rest was assembled out of Japanese products that were never expansions at all: the Gift Box Emerald, the six Quick Construction Packs, the Master Kit and a run of promos, none of which left Japan. Reverse holo cards here carry a pattern of Poké Balls and stars. Eleven Pokémon-ex run from ninety to a hundred, and three are the Regi trio a second time, a year after EX Hidden Legends and in Hikaru Koike's hand rather than Mitsuhiro Arita's. Two theme decks came with it, Hydrobloom and Wildfire. Emerald (EX9) was released on May 9, 2005 in the EX series, with 106 cards plus 1 secret rares. Its most expensive card is Milotic ex #96 (Rare Holo ex), at $341.63 (median of 13 sales over 90 days, October 1, 2026).
