Sword

Series: Sword & Shield Series

Release date: December 6, 2019

Cards: 60 (15 secret)

Set code: S1W

Pokémon VMAX arrive with this pack and its twin Shield, a week after the five V Starter Sets had brought Pokémon V into the game, both replacing the Pokémon-GX that had run since 2016. The card frame changed with them: a Stage 1 now carries one arch between its name and its HP, a Stage 2 carries two, and the copyright line moved down to the bottom border. Only two Pokémon VMAX are printed in the Sword half, Lapras and Stonjourner, and both come back as rainbows at the end. Zacian, the Legendary Pokémon on the cover of the video game this half is named after, is what the packs were opened for. Bede and Professor's Research are the two Supporters given a full art, the Bede drawn by Naoki Saito. A Premium Trainer Box released the same day bundled ten packs of this half with ten of the other. Sword (S1W) was released on December 6, 2019 in the Sword & Shield series, with 60 cards plus 15 secret rares. Its most expensive card is Zacian V #73 (Ultra Rare).
