Fusion Strike

Series: Sword & Shield

Release date: November 12, 2021

Cards: 264 (20 secret)

Set code: SWSH08

The third battle style arrives with this expansion, joining the Single Strike and Rapid Strike that Battle Styles had brought in, and its Pokémon are written to work with one another and with the Trainers and Energy carrying the same label. Mew is the face of it, printed as both V and VMAX, the VMAX able to use the attack of any Fusion Strike Pokémon sitting on your Bench. At 284 cards it held the record for the largest expansion in English, and in five other languages, until Ascended Heroes passed it in 2026. That bulk came from all over: the Japanese Fusion Arts, the High-Class Decks, the Sword and Shield Family Pokémon Card Game set, leftovers from three earlier expansions, and a handful of promos. These were also the first booster packs whose code card named Pokémon Trading Card Game Live, months before the game itself opened. Past card 264 sit the alternate arts, among them a Mew VMAX hanging above an upended Wyndon and an Espeon VMAX that Japan had only ever put out away from boosters. Fusion Strike (SWSH08) was released on November 12, 2021 in the Sword & Shield series, with 264 cards plus 20 secret rares. Its most expensive card is Gengar VMAX #271 (Secret Rare), at $805.93 (median of 19 sales over 7 days, September 30, 2026). A sealed booster box sells for $879.63 (median of 23 sales over 7 days, September 25, 2026).
