Base Set supplies most of this expansion, reprinted with the 1999 layout largely intact while the Pokédex number, Weakness, Resistance and Retreat Cost move to the places the modern template gives them. HP, types, attacks and Pokémon Powers were all rewritten to work under the rules of 2016, so the cards are playable rather than decorative. Pokémon-EX were drawn into the same design and given a gold border, which puts a card class that did not exist in 1999 inside a set otherwise built out of it. This closed the XY Series, twelve expansions after it opened, and Japan had released the equivalent in September 2016 as Expansion Pack 20th Anniversary. Korea took a third route, folding the English and Japanese lists into one release named BASE PACK 20th Anniversary. Five cards sit past the numbered list, the last of them Here Comes Team Rocket!, which comes from the Team Rocket expansion rather than from Base Set. Evolutions (XY12) was released on November 2, 2016 in the XY series, with 108 cards plus 5 secret rares.
