Pokémon Stamp Rally Cards: 38 Promos, 1997 to 2026

As of September 30, 2026, at least 38 Pokémon cards have been given out at stamp rallies, stamp campaigns and railway events. The earliest and best known are the Surfing Pikachu and Mew of JR East's stamp rally of August 1997, two of 19 cards from Japanese railway rallies and train events. The Pokémon Card Gym stamp campaigns account for 14 more; the Pokémon Festa 2002 orienteering (Pikachu), a 7-Eleven rally (Eevee, 2013) and CoroCoro Comic's 2023 tour (Grafaiai ex) for one each; and two rallies in Seoul for a Ditto (2025) and a Magikarp (2026).

One campaign is still running: until February 28, 2027, two event stamps at a Pokémon Card Gym in Japan earn Lillie's Determination and four earn Mega Audino ex. Most rallies give no card: JR East's 2026 rally ended with key holders and medals, the expressway rally of July to September 2026 with a prize draw, and the Poké Lid stamp rally gives Pokémon GO encounters instead.

Few of these cards sell often. As of September 30, 2026, the site has no recorded sale of the 1997 pair; the 7-Eleven Eevee sells for $39.16 (22 real completed sales), and the Card Gym prizes with recorded sales for $7.19 or less.

The 38 cards, rally by rally

Ungraded prices of Japanese copies, from real completed sales as of September 30, 2026; "est." marks a median resting on one or two sales. "No sale recorded": the site has not logged a sale of that card yet. "Not tracked": not in the site's catalog yet.

Railway rallies: 19 cards since 1997

JR East's first Pokémon Stamp Rally ran from August 9 to 17, 1997, at thirty stations in Tokyo's 23 wards. All thirty stamps earned a pair mounted on one holder: a Mew and a Surfing Pikachu whose art exists only on this print, with Mount Fuji on the left and the nose of a white Shinkansen on the right, hence its nickname, the Mt. Fuji Surfing Pikachu. Both are on plain card stock, where the CoroCoro prints of 1997 are glossy.

JR East and JR West gave English Wizards of the Coast promos at their 2000 rallies, and five regional rallies, three of them JR's, gave the same Turtwig in 2008. Twelve railway cards needed no stamps: in 2002, JR East's Pokémon Happy Adventure Rally made the cards themselves the collectibles, one per booth around the Yamanote Line, and in 2011 JR Hokkaido replaced its stamp rally with a Battle Train and a Survey Team. Pokémon Card Gym stamp campaigns: 14 cards since 2016

Pokémon Card Gyms are the shops in Japan registered to run official events such as the Gym Battle, and their stamp campaigns reward attendance, not wins. Until 2024 the stamps had to come from one shop: three sanctioned tournaments at the same gym earned the Venusaur EX of spring 2016, and the First Entry Campaigns of 2023 and 2024 rewarded the second and third events, with a coin and Hawlucha in 2023 and a card each time in 2024. Since March 1, 2025, the Pokémon Card Gym Entry Campaign runs on digital gym stamps, in six-month periods starting March 1 and September 1: each gym event adds one stamp, up to four, and two and four stamps each earn a card.

All 14 print the Pokémon Card Gym logo in the art, but the logo alone does not make a stamp prize: two of them were also packed in the gyms' promo card packs, Buddy-Buddy Poffin 237/SV-P from January 2025 and Poké Pad 085/M-P from May 2026. Buddy-Buddy Poffin 150/SV-P, given in both campaigns of 2024, has the same art as 237/SV-P; the number and the copyright year, 2024 or 2025, tell them apart.

How to win the current prizes, step by step

The campaign of September 1, 2026 to February 28, 2027 gives Lillie's Determination 145/M-P for two stamps and Mega Audino ex 146/M-P for four.

Create a Players Club account. Stamps are credited to this official player account of the Japanese card game, so register before your first event.

Play gym events. Each official event at a Pokémon Card Gym adds one digital stamp when you check in through the event's QR code, up to four per period. Authorized independent events, the Champions League and official events held outside the gyms do not count.

Register a My Gym. Prizes are handed out only at a My Gym: up to three shops where you have played an event in the past year.

Claim the cards by April 30, 2027. At your My Gym, ask for the gym stamp prize and scan the shop's redemption QR code. Stamps reset when a period ends; the prizes of March to August 2026, Poké Pad and Mega Kangaskhan ex, can be claimed until October 31, 2026.

Pokémon Festa, 7-Eleven, CoroCoro and Seoul: five single-card rallies

Pikachu 038/P was the orienteering prize of Pokémon Festa 2002, a free summer fair held at five venues alongside the Battle Road Summer 2002 card tournaments, from Sapporo on July 20 to Kitakyushu on August 11, 2002: visitors who collected the set number of stamps at the fair's corners received it. Pikachu 044/P, from JR East's rally that August, reprints it with slightly different art, so check the number.

7-Eleven's stamp rally of July 13 to August 15, 2013 needed no purchase: four different stamps collected at 7-Eleven stores, between 7 am and 7 pm, earned a holo Eevee 235/BW-P at the store of the fourth stamp. It prints the 7-Eleven logo at the bottom left; our 7-Eleven catalog has the chain's other cards.

Grafaiai ex 088/SV-P went to children of junior high school age or younger who collected every stamp at a stop of Coro Tour 2023, CoroCoro Comic's tour of six malls on Sundays from July 23 to August 27, 2023. It was not a rally exclusive: a voucher in the magazine's August 2023 issue and an insert with the November 2023 issue gave it too, as our CoroCoro catalog explains. Its art, a reader's winning drawing recreated in 3D, carries the CoroCoro Comic logo.

In South Korea, Pokémon Town 2025, around Lotte World Mall in Jamsil, Seoul, ran a Ditto QR Stamp Rally from April 25 to May 18, 2025: any one of its six QR stamps earned a Korean Ditto promo (SV-P 173) while supplies lasted, and all six a set of stickers. The card shows Ditto transformed into Lapras, Pikachu, Magikarp and Lotad, with the METAMONG PROJECT logo.

The Korean Magikarp promo 040/M-P was the prize for three of the six stamps of a Pokémon GO stamp rally in Seongsu, Seoul, from May 1, 2026, but crowds made Pokémon Korea cancel the on-site handout on the first day. Players who had three stamps on May 1 claimed it online from May 27 to 31, 2026; about 110,000 people who completed a 1 km run in the online Pokémon Run challenge of June 2026 later collected it at SK Telecom's T World stores, from July 7 to August 31, 2026. It prints the Pokémon MEGA FESTA 2026 logo.

Quiz rallies are not stamp rallies

Some rally promos were won with answers, not stamps, and are often listed as stamp rally cards. In spring 2011, Ito-Yokado's Spring Fair (April 29 to May 5) and Apita's Pokémon Fair (April 30 to May 5) held a Pokémon Card Game BW Quiz Rally: elementary school children who answered four questions placed around the store received Snivy, Tepig and Oshawott together. The two trios share Ken Sugimori's art and differ only by the logo on the art, Spring Fair on 034 to 036/BW-P and Pokémon Fair on 042 to 044/BW-P. Rallies that gave no card

How to identify and buy them

Apart from the prizes of the running campaign, these cards trade second-hand: the Japanese ones in Japanese card shops and on auction sites, which a proxy service can buy from and forward abroad, as our guide to buying Japanese cards explains. Is the Mt. Fuji Surfing Pikachu a stamp rally card?

Yes. JR East gave it with a Mew for all thirty stamps of its first Pokémon Stamp Rally, August 9 to 17, 1997. Its art adds Mount Fuji and a Shinkansen nose to the surfing Pikachu, and it is printed on plain card stock.

Can you still win a Pokémon card at a stamp rally?

Yes, in Japan: until February 28, 2027, the Pokémon Card Gym Entry Campaign gives Lillie's Determination for two digital stamps and Mega Audino ex for four, earned by playing gym events. JR East's 2026 rally gave no card.

Do Poké Lids give a Pokémon card?

No. The Pokémon manhole covers give no card. Across Japan since January 30, 2026, a Pokémon GO stamp rally at the lids rewards every two stamps in one prefecture with a Pikachu encounter showing that prefecture's location.
