Black & White

Series: Black & White

Release date: April 25, 2011

Cards: 114 (1 secret)

Set code: BW1

Black & White starts the game over, and the set is built entirely from Unova Pokémon apart from one Pikachu hidden past the printed total. Poké-Powers and Poké-Bodies end here, replaced by the Ability, a single heading that covers both what a Pokémon does on command and what it does on its own. Full Art cards also begin with this expansion, two of them closing the numbered list. Items, Supporters and Stadiums went back to being subclasses of Trainer, and a Supporter is now discarded the moment it is used instead of at the end of the turn. The English numbering adopted the Japanese scheme, Pokémon by type and then by National Pokédex number with Trainer cards listed alphabetically, and the Cosmos foil gave way to a horizontal striped pattern called Tinsel. The set also carried the Pokémon Trading Card Game Online to players outside Japan, although the code cards that unlock digital packs only turned up in later print runs. Black & White (BW1) was released on April 25, 2011 in the Black & White series, with 114 cards plus 1 secret rares. Its most expensive card is Reshiram #113 (Ultra Rare), at $69.57 (median of 5 sales over 7 days, October 1, 2026). A sealed booster box sells for $11,665.46 (median of 3 sales over 90 days, September 17, 2026).
