Emerging Powers

Series: Black & White

Release date: August 31, 2011

Cards: 98

Set code: BW2

No Japanese booster stands behind this expansion. It was built instead from the Battle Strength Decks and from whatever the Black and White Collections had left over, which makes it the odd one out in its series. The publisher counted twenty five Pokémon appearing in the game for the first time, Cobalion, Terrakion and Virizion among them, with Thundurus and Tornadus taking the two full frame slots at 97 and 98. Pokémon Catcher reaches English for the first time at 95, eight months after its Japanese debut in the White Collection, an Item that pulls a Benched Pokémon into the Active spot at no cost, and Max Potion arrives at 94. The reverse holo pattern changes here too, from a plain mirror finish to a field of repeated Energy symbols, or Poké Balls on a Trainer card. Boosters and theme decks start carrying a code card for the online game with this release. Emerging Powers (BW2) was released on August 31, 2011 in the Black & White series, with 98 cards. Its most expensive card is Thundurus #97 (Ultra Rare), at $14.82 (median of 11 sales over 30 days, September 29, 2026).
