Card counts include secret rares. The 30 extra 30th Celebration cards are the gold-bordered Classic Collection reprints, found in about one pack in ten in early openings. Delta Reign's count is the announced minimum.

Japan still gets almost every set first. In 2026, the English version of a Japanese set arrived 8 to 10 weeks later, Delta Reign will come 14 weeks after Storm Emeralda, and only 30th Celebration launched on one day in both languages. The gap has not closed. Measured from the latest Japanese expansion that each of the year's six English releases draws on, it was 8 weeks at the median in 2024, 6.5 weeks in 2025 and 9 weeks in 2026.

A shared release day does not mean shared cards. On May 22, 2026, Japan got Abyss Eye while the English market got Chaos Rising, which carries Ninja Spinner, released in Japan ten weeks earlier. Each 2026 English set is built on a single Japanese set, and Ascended Heroes and Delta Reign also take cards from Japanese starter decks; in 2024, an English set often combined two, as Temporal Forces did with Wild Force and Cyber Judge.

Ascended Heroes, at 295 cards, is the largest English set of the year. The others run 120 to 161 cards, within seven cards of their Japanese originals, except Delta Reign, which adds starter-set cards to Storm Emeralda's 113. How the two languages compare on price, card for card, is in our guide to Japanese Pokémon cards.
