Delta Reign vs Storm Emeralda: Release Date, Card List and Chase Card Prices

NeverLeaveMe·

Delta Reign comes out on November 6, 2026, in English and on the same day in French, German and Italian, with prerelease events from October 24. It is the English version of Japan's Storm Emeralda (July 31, 2026), enlarged with cards from three Japanese starter decks and a gym promo: 103 numbered cards plus at least 37 secret rares, more than 140 cards in all. Its chase card is Mega Rayquaza ex, whose Japanese prints sell for $416 in gold (6 sales) and $231 as a Special Art Rare (19 sales), raw, as of October 8, 2026.

Three things change in the card list: about 30 starter-deck and promo cards come in, the Kyogre Art Rare leaves the packs to become the Elite Trainer Box promo, and no English gold card has been announced. The full English card list is not out as of October 8, 2026, so this guide keeps what the publisher has announced apart from what the cards shown so far suggest.

Mega Rayquaza ex is a Basic Pokémon, so it needs no evolution. When you play it onto your Bench, its Ruler's Roar Ability lets you look at the top four cards of your deck and attach a basic Energy found there to it, and its Storm Emerald attack does 50 damage for each Fire and Lightning Energy attached to all of your Pokémon. It is Mega Rayquaza's first new card in an English expansion since Ancient Origins (August 2015). The other three Mega Evolution Pokémon ex are Mega Golisopod ex, Mega Golurk ex and Mega Malamar ex.

The code DLR sits at the bottom left of every card, as our guide to set symbols and codes shows; the other 2026 dates are in Pokémon set release dates and on our release calendar.

Delta Reign vs Storm Emeralda

Delta Reign arrives 14 weeks after Storm Emeralda. The two sets share their artwork and their headline cards; the English one is bigger, and its packs and boxes are built differently.

What Delta Reign adds, and what it moves

Delta Reign's main set adds 27 cards to Storm Emeralda's 76. On the numbers shown so far, 26 are Pokémon from the three Starter Set ex decks Japan released alongside it (¥1,800 each), among them Meowscarada ex, Jolteon, Morpeko and Zarude, and the 27th is the Supporter Grisham, which Japan gave out in Pokémon Card Gym promo packs from May 1, 2026. Each deck's full illustration card (Sprigatito, Zorua and Eevee) becomes an Illustration Rare, while Storm Emeralda's Kyogre Art Rare moves to the Elite Trainer Box as its promo: 12 Art Rares become 14 Illustration Rares.

Legendary Stadiums, in both languages

Each Legendary Stadium is printed as two cards with the same name, a left and a right half that share one wide illustration, and you play both from your hand together as a single Stadium. A Delta Reign pack that holds one half holds the other. In Japan, both halves count toward the four-card limit, so a deck holds at most two pairs; the English halves also share one name, which sets the same cap.

  • Legendary Pyroduct: Evolution Pokémon in play, on both sides, have no Abilities.
  • Legendary Summit: when a Colorless Pokémon is Knocked Out by an attack, the attacking player takes one fewer Prize card, so a Mega Rayquaza ex gives up two Prize cards instead of three.
  • Legendary Trench: every heal, on either side, is doubled.
The two halves of Legendary Summit in Storm Emeralda, 073 and 074/076; in Delta Reign they are 096 and 097/103.

The Delta Reign card list so far

As of October 8, 2026, 52 Delta Reign cards have been shown in English. The main set runs by type, from Grass to Colorless, then the Trainers in alphabetical order from 089 to 103, and the secret rares start at 104 with the Illustration Rares. With 14 Illustration Rares and 17 Ultra Rares announced, the six Special Illustration Rares should take 135 to 140, which matches Raikou ex at 136 and Aarune at 139.

The chase cards so far

None of the Mega Rayquaza ex secret rares has been shown in English as of October 8, 2026, but their Japanese prints have been selling since late July, and they rank the set. Together, the gold card and the Special Art Rare sell for more than twice as much as the other 42 Storm Emeralda cards with a price put together.

Eight of Storm Emeralda's nine dearest cards: Mega Rayquaza ex in gold, as a Special Art Rare and as a Super Rare; the Raikou ex, Zinnia's Trust and Mega Golisopod ex Special Art Rares; the Kyogre and Groudon Art Rares.

Medians of real completed sales of the Japanese prints, raw and in PSA 10, as of October 8, 2026. The raw figures of the Mega Rayquaza ex Super Rare and Double Rare, Zinnia's Trust, Kyogre, Mega Golurk ex, Groudon and Aarune count single ungraded copies only, with the card pages' own window rule: those pages also count graded copies, a two-card set or a Korean print. Every card of the set, with the prices recorded so far, is on our Storm Emeralda set page.

Prices have fallen fast since release. The Mega Rayquaza ex Special Art Rare sold for a median $633 in its first ten days on sale (65 sales, July 29 to August 7, 2026) and for $231 in the seven days to October 8; the gold card, $1,252 at the median of its first four sales, to August 7, and $416 in the seven days to October 7. PSA 10 copies of the Special Art Rare sold for $1,104 to $1,532 from August 24 to 30, and for $584 on October 2. The sealed Japanese box held up better: $141 at the median of its first 11 sales, to August 7, against $97.94 in the seven days to October 8 (5 sales of whole boxes).

In the US, Pokémon Center opened preorders on September 30, 2026 for its own Elite Trainer Box (two per customer), the Booster Bundle and the booster display (one each), and the first wave sold out quickly; the Pokémon Center Elite Trainer Box is sold only there. As of October 8, 2026, Best Buy lists the Elite Trainer Box at $49.99, the Booster Bundle at $26.94, the three-pack blister at $13.99 and the display at $160.99, all dated November 6. Some other preorder listings ask far more than these prices.

Should you buy Storm Emeralda now or wait for Delta Reign?

It depends on the card you want and on what you do with it. Three facts help:

  • Per pack: a sealed Storm Emeralda box sells for $97.94 (5 sales of whole boxes), about 2.6 times its Japanese list price, which comes to $3.26 a pack of 5 cards, or 65 cents a card. A Delta Reign display at its suggested $161.64 is $4.49 a pack of 10, or 45 cents a card, if you find one at that price. The publisher prints no pull rates in either language; in large retailer counts of the 2026 English main sets, a Special Illustration Rare came about once in 80 packs, fewer than one per display.
  • English against Japanese: on the last two Mega Evolution main sets (Pitch Black against Abyss Eye, Chaos Rising against Ninja Spinner), over the same 90 days to October 8, 2026, the Japanese Special Art Rare sold for a median 53% of the English Special Illustration Rare, and for less on 11 of the 12 pairs. The two gold cards went the other way: the Japanese one sold for 1.7 and 2.3 times the English one.
  • Play: Japanese cards are not allowed at Play! Pokémon tournaments.

On those numbers, a Japanese Special Art Rare has been the cheaper way to own a card's art, and the Mega Rayquaza ex Special Art Rare has already lost more than half of its early August price, so there is no rush either way. The gold card has cost more in Japanese than in English on both recent sets, which argues for waiting, although an English gold Mega Rayquaza ex has not been announced. Players should wait for Delta Reign. Pack openers should know that the Kyogre Art Rare is in Japanese packs but not in Delta Reign packs, and that the Sprigatito, Zorua and Eevee Illustration Rares are in Delta Reign packs, while Japan sold their art in starter decks. The wider comparison, 377 cards in both languages, is in our guide to Japanese Pokémon cards, and which sets give back the most per pack is in our guide to the best packs for rare cards.
