Neo Discovery

Series: Neo

Release date: June 1, 2001

Cards: 75

Set code: NEO2

Unown reaches the English card game in this expansion, nine letters of it, each carrying a bracketed Pokémon Power named after its own letter and one attack, Hidden Power, that all of them share. Unown [A] adds damage to those attacks for every counter sitting on itself, while Unown [D] takes thirty off any hit from a Darkness Pokémon and switches off the moment a second copy is in play. The Ruins of Alph is the setting, and the Japanese title, Crossing the Ruins, says as much. Four Trainers close the list, Fossil Egg, Hyper Devolution Spray, Ruin Wall and Energy Ark. Atsuko Nishida's Espeon and Kimiya Masago's Umbreon and Scizor are the holos collectors go after, with Hironobu Yoshida's Tyranitar behind them. Brain Wave and Wallop were the theme decks, and the English printing trailed the Japanese one by close to a year. Neo Discovery (NEO2) was released on June 1, 2001 in the Neo series, with 75 cards. Its most expensive card is Umbreon #13 (Rare Holo), at $394.18 (median of 23 sales over 30 days, October 1, 2026).

When was Neo Discovery released?

Neo Discovery released on June 1, 2001.

How many cards are in Neo Discovery?

Neo Discovery contains 75 cards.

What is the most expensive card in Neo Discovery?

The most expensive card in Neo Discovery is Umbreon #13 (Rare Holo), at $394.18: the median of 23 completed sales over the last 30 days, as of October 1, 2026.

Why does the same Pokemon appear twice in the Neo Discovery numbering?

Because every holofoil rare was printed a second time without foil. Numbers 1 to 17 hold the holofoil rares, from Espeon to Yanma in alphabetical order, and numbers 20 to 36 repeat those same seventeen cards unfoiled in the same order. Beedrill (18) and Butterfree (19) are the only rares in the set with no holofoil counterpart.
