Neo Destiny

Series: Neo

Release date: February 28, 2002

Cards: 105 (8 secret)

Set code: NEO4

Light Pokémon appear in this expansion and, apart from a lone 2021 promo, nowhere else, twenty cards whose artwork window and Pokédex strip are printed near white where an ordinary card uses gold. Facing them are twenty-six Dark Pokémon, back for the first time since Team Rocket, and the set's two theme decks are simply called Dark and Light. Eight Shining Pokémon close the run past the printed denominator, from 106 to 113 of 105, and their finish was reworked here so that the background stays matte and the metallic layer sits on the Pokémon alone. Game Freak drew all eight in house, Hironobu Yoshida taking five and Ken Sugimori three, and the Shining Charizard among them is the only Charizard card in the whole Neo series. It closes the Neo run of four expansions, and it is the last English set Wizards of the Coast ever stamped 1st Edition. The Japanese release had come roughly ten months earlier, under the title Darkness, and to Light... Neo Destiny (NEO4) was released on February 28, 2002 in the Neo series, with 105 cards plus 8 secret rares. Its most expensive card is Shining Charizard #107 (Rare Shining), at $1,663.00 (median of 11 sales over 7 days, October 1, 2026).
