Gold, Silver, to a New World...

Series: Neo Series

Release date: February 4, 2000

Cards: 96

Set code: NEO1

Johto reaches the card game in February 2000, and this expansion opens the neo era with the first cards for Generation II Pokémon. Two types arrive with it, Darkness and Metal, each carrying a special Energy of its own, and Baby Pokémon come with a rule that applies to nothing else. Pokémon Tool cards start here as well, Trainers that stay attached to a Pokémon in play, lifted from the held items of Gold and Silver. The card face was redrawn for the era, with a round evolution box, black HP figures in place of red, and the stage printed underneath them. At least five Japanese cards were corrected during the print run, among them a Typhlosion whose attack damage was set down wrong and a Darkness Energy that asked for ten damage counters where it meant one. Moo-Moo Milk shows a Sentret drinking straight from a Miltank in the Japanese printing, which the English release swapped for cans in a barn. Gold, Silver, to a New World... (NEO1) was released on February 4, 2000 in the Neo series, with 96 cards. Its most expensive card is Lugia No. 249 (Rare Holo), at $169.13 (median of 18 sales over 7 days, October 3, 2026).
