Platinum

Series: Platinum

Release date: February 11, 2009

Cards: 127 (6 secret)

Set code: PL1

Team Galactic runs through this expansion, which brought the Pokémon SP into the game: always a Basic, framed in grey and yellow, marked SP at the bottom left and carrying its owner's face in the corner of the illustration. The first of them belong to Galactic and take a G after the name, so Palkia G is a different card from an ordinary Palkia. The Lost Zone opens here as well, a place a card can be sent to instead of the discard pile, with no way back into the game. Three secret cards sit past the printed total at 128 to 130, retro reprints of Electabuzz, Hitmonchan and Scyther as the game drew them in its first years. Three Shiny cards follow those, numbered SH4 to SH6, continuing a run that Stormfront had begun with SH1 to SH3. Japan published the set as Galactic's Conquest in October 2008, and the English printing arrived in February 2009. Platinum (PL1) was released on February 11, 2009 in the Platinum series, with 127 cards plus 6 secret rares. Its most expensive card is Vulpix SH6 (Rare Holo).
