37 cards
Lawson gave out or sold 39 Pokémon cards in Japan between 2010 and 2021, 29 of them at Lawson alone: three personalized jumbo cards in 2010, nine basic Energies with the LAWSON logo in a 2013 coin set, the 2015 Double Crisis Mudkip, and promo packs given with card purchases in 2017, 2019 and 2020, each with a Lawson-logo Water Energy. The last was a Piplup, shared with other channels, in September 2021. Since then Lawson has sold Pokémon cards rather than given them: the 30th Celebration packs went on sale there at 7 am on September 16, 2026, five per customer per purchase.
Prices are medians of real completed sales in dollars, as of September 24, 2026. A card counts here when it came only through a named list of stores that includes Lawson, alone or shared; campaigns open to every card retailer in Japan are left out, as in our guides to 7-Eleven and FamilyMart cards.

2010: the personalized jumbo cards
Lawson's first Pokémon cards were made to order. From October 29 to December 13, 2010, anyone could sign up for free on Lawson's campaign site, pick Snivy, Tepig or Oshawott, and type a nickname (up to five characters) to go into the card name and an attack name (up to ten), up to three cards per account. The jumbo cards, printed with that text, were picked up at the chosen Lawson from January 1 to 7, 2011. They are not in our card database. English players know the design: the Super Snivy box of September 2011 printed it with the name and the attack left blank, as a lenticular card.
2011 and 2013: Beartic and the coin sets
From July 15, 2011, buying four Red Collection packs at once earned a card chosen by store: Beartic 053/BW-P at Lawson and four other convenience chains, Zebstrika at 7-Eleven. The same year, Lawson sold packs with a coin but no card: a coin set from January 1, 2011, and from December 23, a Reshiram or Zekrom coin with two Dark Rush packs.
The Lawson Pokémon Coin Set of December 2013 held two Collection X packs, two Collection Y packs, a coin and a sealed silver pack with one of nine basic Energies. The Energies print "XY-P" without a number and the LAWSON logo at the bottom right.

Fairy Energy (Lawson Limited Pokemon Coin Set 2013)2015: the Double Crisis Mudkip
From January 30, 2015, spending 600 yen on card products earned a promo for the Double Crisis launch, a different starter by chain: Mudkip 109/XY-P at Lawson, Torchic 108/XY-P at 7-Eleven, Treecko 107/XY-P at FamilyMart and four other chains. In both campaigns that split a starter trio by chain, 2015 and 2017, Lawson got the Water one.
2016 and 2017: the Special Sets
Small Special Sets, a holo promo with two packs, were split by chain. Lawson sold them with FamilyMart, Circle K Sunkus, Daily Yamazaki, Ministop and the Pokémon Centers: Pikachu 003/SM-P from December 9, 2016 and Turtonator 022/SM-P from January 27, 2017, while the Seven & i group got a Togedemaru and a Rockruff. Komala 043 (March 17), Alolan Vulpix 052 (April 21) and Charmander 060/SM-P (June 16, 2017) went to all six chains.
June 2017: the Lawson Blue Campaign
From June 16, 2017, every five Sun & Moon booster packs bought at once at Lawson earned a promo pack with one of three cards, each with Lawson blue somewhere on it: Alolan Sandshrew 077, Mareanie 078 and a Water Energy 079/SM-P. Only the Energy carries the Lawson logo. Natural Lawson and Lawson Store 100 shops were left out, and starter and special sets did not count.
December 2017: Popplio and the Water Energies
From December 8, 2017, 7-Eleven, FamilyMart and Lawson each gave a promo pack for every five packs bought at once, a different pack by chain. Lawson's held Pikachu 168/SM-P (shared by the three chains), Popplio 175/SM-P, a Water Energy 176/SM-P or a mirror Water Energy 177/SM-P; only the Energies carry the LAWSON logo, in a white box at the bottom right. The mirror Energy was a fourth card added to the announcement after the campaign began, as our FamilyMart guide explains.
2019: Detective Pikachu and the Summer Campaign
On April 26, 2019, two jumbo card packs for the Detective Pikachu movie each held a holo Detective Pikachu. The Charizard-GX version, sold with the movie's advance ticket through the Loppi terminals of Lawson and Ministop stores until May 2, held Detective Pikachu 338/SM-P, a jumbo Charizard-GX and six movie packs. The Mewtwo-GX version, sold at AEON, Lawson, TSUTAYA, the Pokémon Centers and cinemas, held Detective Pikachu 339/SM-P, a jumbo Mewtwo-GX and six packs.
From August 2, 2019, the day the Dream League set came out, every five Sun & Moon packs bought at once at Lawson earned one of four designs. The Pikachu by Aya Kusube exists in two prints, holo 376/SM-P and plain 377/SM-P; the others are Eevee 378 by Atsuko Nishida, Alolan Vulpix 379 by Naoyo Kimura and a Water Energy 380/SM-P with the Lawson logo.
2020: the V Start Campaign
From August 28, 2020, buying three Pokémon card products at once, one of them a V Start Deck, earned a promo pack with one of five cards: a holo Sobble 129, Scorbunny 130, a plain Sobble 131, Pikachu 132 and a Water Energy 133/S-P. The holo Sobble and the Energy carry the Lawson logo. The Hitoshi Ariga art of Pikachu 132/S-P first appeared on a Pokémon Card Gym promo, 024/S-P, in December 2019.
2021: Piplup
From September 21 to 27, 2021, buying two eligible sweets at Lawson earned a Piplup 232/S-P, 35 per store and one per customer per visit. The same card, with the Project Piplup logo on the art, also went out at the Pokémon Centers, with Namco crane games and with Piplup Tokyo Banana sweets, and nothing marks which channel a copy came from.
Not Lawson cards
Some cards bought at Lawson are not Lawson cards. The Black Bolt and White Flare Card File Set of June 6, 2025 (2,640 yen, with a holo Victini 271/SV-P) was a national release, which Lawson also sold without a purchase limit. The Scarlet ex and Violet ex Special Set of January 2023, sold at convenience stores, held the same promo cards as the starter sets. The Enigma Egg cards of December 2010, 001-003/BW-P, went to every participating card retailer except 7-Eleven. And several Lawson campaigns gave goods only: two posters that join into one for the Super-Burst Impact set (September 2018), a playmat (December 2019), a mini item case (January 2021) and clear files (January 2025).
Lawson and Pokémon cards today
Lawson sells new sets at the counter. For the 30th Celebration packs, on sale from 7 am on September 16, 2026 at 360 yen, it took no reservations or holds and set a limit of five packs per customer per purchase, adding that times and limits could vary by store. Limits have varied by release: the Black Bolt and White Flare packs of June 6, 2025 were capped at 20 of each per person for their first three days. For some products it takes preorders: the 30th Celebration Espeon and Umbreon deck set was reserved from June 23, 2026 through Loppi, for pickup in store, or Lawson's online shop, for delivery, one per person at 6,860 yen including tax and shipping, handed over from September 16, 2026.
The older cards trade second-hand, mostly in Japan through card shops and auction sites; from abroad, a proxy service buys and forwards them, as our guide to buying Japanese cards from abroad explains. The LAWSON logo is the check on the nine 2013 Energies and on 079, 176, 177, 380/SM-P and 129, 133/S-P; the other cards here carry no Lawson mark, so the number is the check.
