GX Starter Decks

Series: Sun & Moon Series

Release date: July 13, 2018

Cards: 131

Set code: SMH

Nine ready to play decks make up this release, one per Energy type, each built around a single Pokémon-GX: Lurantis, Charizard, Lapras, Raichu, Mewtwo, Lycanroc, Yveltal, Metagross and Xerneas. The nine share one numbering, so together they form a single collectable run rather than nine separate products. Every card inside is a reprint of something already sold, and the publisher states plainly that none of them are holofoil. Each box also holds damage counters, condition markers and a GX marker, which is everything one player needs to sit down and play straight out of the packaging. They were marketed as the easy way into the game, and the boom in Japanese interest that followed has been attributed to their launch. GX Starter Decks (SMH) was released on July 13, 2018 in the Sun & Moon series, with 131 cards. Its most expensive card is Mimikyu #51, at $11.92 (median of 5 sales over 90 days, October 1, 2026).
