About this card
Wizards created this Venusaur for the Game Boy Color Trading Card Game before it existed on cardboard, and English copies arrived as an insert in the Pokémon Trading Card Game: Official Nintendo Player's Guide of March 2000. Sugimori frames the Pokémon head on with its flower fully open, and the English printing foils the whole background where the Japanese print foils only the sky. LV. 64 separates it from the Base Set Venusaur, which is LV. 67 and painted by Mitsuhiro Arita. It also spent time unplayable in the Modified format, with no legal Bulbasaur to evolve from until Legendary Collection printed one.
