Simplified Chinese · 60 cards
Traditional Chinese · 2 cards
As of September 25, 2026, 62 Pokémon card artworks exist only in Chinese: 60 in Simplified Chinese, the edition of mainland China, and 2 in Traditional Chinese, the edition of Taiwan, Hong Kong and Macau. A third of them exist because of Pokémon GO, which is blocked in mainland China: the cards of the Japanese Pokémon GO set were redrawn before they were printed there, 21 new drawings. On October 16, 2026, the mainland publisher announced three more for November 6, 2026: special art rares of N's Plan and Hilda in its Black Bolt and White Flare, and an art rare of Misty's Psyduck in Gem Pack Volume 7.
The most valuable by recorded sales is the Mew ex promo 003/SV-P, 1,510 copies given by lottery: $54,100 in PSA 10 (7 sales) and $17,673 in PSA 9 (5 sales). The four Pikachu of Collect 151 sell for $491 to $1,017 raw, most of the redrawn Pokémon GO cards for under $10. Every price on this page is a median of real completed sales as of September 25, 2026.
The test is the illustrator. An artwork counts when the name credited on the card appears on no English or Japanese printing of the same card, or, when it does, when the two drawings differ side by side, and when no other language has printed it. Chinese-only prints of drawings sold elsewhere (a stamp, a gold or rainbow finish) are not counted; the main ones are listed near the end, with the Asian cards often sold as Chinese exclusives.

Simplified Chinese: 60 exclusive artworks
This is the mainland edition, launched on October 28, 2022 and sold only in mainland China. Its sets fold several Japanese sets into one, under their own names and numbers, and it runs product lines that Japan does not have.
Coming November 6, 2026: N's Plan, Hilda and Misty's Psyduck
Mainland China releases Black Bolt and White Flare on November 6, 2026, as 黑雷奔流 and 白焰迸涌, and each holds a special art rare drawn for China: N's Plan by Iwamoto05 in Black Bolt and Hilda by Ligton in White Flare, both numbered 173/086. The Japanese edition puts REND's N's Plan and Naoki Saito's Hilda at that number, and the English Special Illustration Rares of the two Supporters are those same drawings. The same day, Gem Pack Volume 7, 10 yuan for four foil cards, brings an art rare of Misty's Psyduck by Cona Nitanda (0307/07): Psyduck, lying in a beach chair, holds a beach ball up high while Misty stands behind it. The card's earlier art rare, printed in Japanese, English and Chinese, is OKACHEKE's. As of October 16, 2026, no other language has announced these three drawings, and they join the count once released.

Japan's Pokémon GO set (強化拡張パック Pokémon GO, June 17, 2022) was built around the mobile game: its cards carry the Pokémon GO logo and a Niantic copyright line. When mainland China caught up with it in 2024, folding its cards into four Chinese sets, 22 of them were given new art and lost the logo. Twenty-one are new drawings, each by someone other than the card's original illustrator: Charizard moved from N-DESIGN Inc. to LINNE, Radiant Eevee from Souichirou Gunjima to Sanosuke Sakuma, Bulbasaur from sowsow to saino misaki, and sowsow drew the Chinese Bibarel instead. The 22nd, Ditto, took an existing drawing by KIYOTAKA OSHIYAMA, the one of Crown Zenith, so it is not counted.
Pokémon GO did launch in Hong Kong and Taiwan, in July and August 2016, so the Traditional Chinese edition received the Japanese set unchanged, on the same day as Japan, logo and original art included. The two Chinese versions of these cards are different objects, and the reason is a game license rather than anything to do with cards.
The four Pikachu of Collect 151
Mainland China did not get Japan's 151 set as it was. Its Collect 151 (收集啦151) has the same 151 Pokémon but none of the 18 art rares of the Japanese set; in their place are four Pikachu art rares, all by Oswaldo KATO. It came out as four sub-sets in 2025, each with one Pikachu: 旅 Journey (January 17), 望 Hope (April 18), 惊 Surprise (July 18) and 聚 Gather (October 17). Surprise hides a Gengar behind its Pikachu under a full moon; Gather fills a sunlit forest with Pikachu, a Cubone and a Vulpix.
Gem Pack: 21 artworks in a line sold only in China
Gem Pack (宝石包) has no Japanese or English equivalent: a Simplified-Chinese-only booster line of four cards a pack, every card foil, at 10 yuan a pack (a Volume 1 box held 15), from Volume 1 (January 17, 2025) to Volume 6 (August 7, 2026), with Volume 7 due November 6, 2026. Most of its cards are Japanese drawings in Chinese-only finishes (type patterns, Poké Ball and Master Ball patterns, a gold Gem Pack logo), and most of its art rares reprint Japanese ones. The 21 below were drawn for the line.

Applin#1907/07Captain Pikachu, Friede's partner in Pokémon Horizons, has no Japanese or English card. Its 14 cards are all in Gem Pack Volumes 1 and 5: four drawings, the two regular ones printed in six finishes each. A Japanese jumbo card of the same name, drawn by Kouki Saitou for the move of the Pokémon Center Yokohama on October 10, 2008, shows a different Pikachu in a captain's hat, fifteen years before the character existed.
Scarlet and Violet: 10 chase cards drawn for Chinese sets
Ten more were drawn for the Chinese Scarlet and Violet sets of 2025 and 2026, three for Bonus Round and the others one per set: nine special art rares and a gold Gholdengo ex by 5ban Graphics. Two share an illustrator with an English or Japanese card of the same name, and the drawings still differ: kantaro's Rika and Taira Akitsu's Ciphermaniac's Codebreaking. The newest are rika's Sylveon ex (Terastal Gathering, June 12, 2026) and Atsushi Furusawa's Brock's Scouting (Chasing Glory Together, July 16, 2026). En Morikura's Lisia's Appeal of Stellar Crystal (257) was drawn for China too, but since July 2026 the same drawing has also been a Thai and an Indonesian promo, so it is listed with the Asian cards below.

Brock's Scouting#276Primordial Arts and the gold Battle VIP Pass
Primordial Arts (November 17, 2023) built its Venusaur and Blastoise halves from two Japanese starter decks of December 2020, which had no chase cards. A Chinese booster needs them, so PLANETA Igarashi, who did not draw the ordinary cards, was commissioned for a full-art Venusaur V and Blastoise V found in no other language. The rainbow Venusaur VMAX and Blastoise VMAX beside them keep the ordinary cards' illustrators and drawings: Chinese-only finishes, not new art.
One gold card is a new drawing too. The Battle VIP Pass of the Radiant Energy Vol. 2 theme packs (July 12, 2024, numbered 023/004) is credited to Toyste Beach and redraws the pass, while every English and Japanese Battle VIP Pass is Ryo Ueda's. The gold Defiance Band and gold Pal Pad of 2025 show the same objects by the same illustrators as the ordinary cards, rendered again in gold, so they count here as finishes rather than new art.
The Mew ex promo, and the print runs China publishes
Mainland promo announcements often state how many copies are printed: 1,510 for this Mew ex, 250,000 for the Pikachu given with two boxes of Gem Pack Volume 1, 10,000 to 35,000 for each Official Gym opening card. The Mew ex, 003/SV-P, has the smallest published run of any Chinese exclusive artwork. From March to December 2025, players who had joined at least 15 official events at three or more venues within 151 days entered a monthly draw of 151 winners: ten draws, 1,510 cards.
Underneath, it is the ordinary 180 HP Mew ex of 151, same Restart, same Genome Hacking; only the drawing was commissioned for China, and satoma has drawn no other Mew card in any language. The events that counted include gym battles, which run at certified card shops and at the 30 company-run shops on our map of every Official Gym in China.
Traditional Chinese: two exclusives
Traditional Chinese, sold in Taiwan, Hong Kong and Macau, is a separate edition. Its card game proper began on October 9, 2019 with All Stars Collection, after only a handful of Traditional Chinese products in 2000 and 2006, and since Amazing Volt Tackle it has released the Japanese sets one for one, usually about two weeks after Japan. That leaves little room for art of its own. Two cards have it, both made for occasions: Taipei's Pikachu (057/SV-P, by REOspikee), given with any purchase when the Pokémon Center Taipei opened on December 8, 2023, with an attack named for the opening, 新開幕; and a full-art Pikachu by aspara (153/SV-P) from the fifth-anniversary Premium Card Set of November 1, 2024. Pokémon RUN's Pikachu (216/M-P), announced on September 2, 2026 for finishers of the Pokémon RUN 30 races held in Taiwan from October 17, 2026, is not out yet and is not counted.
Chinese-only prints of drawings sold elsewhere
These are sold only in Chinese but print a drawing that exists in another language, so they are not in the count:
- Official Gym opening promos, 26 since July 2025 (one for a reopening), Simplified Chinese: a card of each shop's mascot stamped with the shop's logo, 10,000 to 35,000 copies each.
- Finishes: the gold Defiance Band and Pal Pad, the gold Cinderace ex and Lapras ex of Stellar Crystal, the rainbow Venusaur VMAX and Blastoise VMAX, and most Gem Pack cards.
- Celebratory Fanfare: two Simplified Chinese prints came at random in theme packs in 2024, the Japanese 2021 and 2022 drawings without their Championship Series logo. Our guide to every version of Celebratory Fanfare lists all 29 prints.
Asian, not Chinese: Victini ex, the Tactics Decks, Lisia's Appeal
Seven more artworks are printed in Chinese and in no English or Japanese edition, but they also exist in Thai and Indonesian, so they belong to the Asian markets rather than to China. The two Victini ex full arts (051 and 052/SV-P in Traditional Chinese) were the prizes of the Battle for Victini, sealed tournaments held in Taiwan and Hong Kong from October 2 to November 5, 2023, and the same two cards went to Thai and Indonesian players between October and December 2023, then to mainland tournament winners in 2025 (113 and 114/SV-P). The four Tactics Deck ex (Meowscarada, Miraidon, Gardevoir and Garchomp) came out in Traditional Chinese on July 19, 2024 and in Indonesian and Thai on August 16, 2024. Three were later printed in Korean, and all four in Simplified Chinese: the Gardevoir, Miraidon and Meowscarada as 2025 reward cards, the Garchomp in Terastal Gathering (June 12, 2026). The Lisia's Appeal special art rare by En Morikura, drawn for Stellar Crystal (257), became the five-point reward of the 2026 Tactics Deck events at Pokémon Card Gym stores, from July 17 in Thailand (148/M-P) and July 31 in Indonesia (172/M-P). Indonesia's own exclusive, a Pikachu in a batik shirt, is in our guide to Indonesian exclusive Pokémon cards.
FAQ
What makes a Pokémon card Chinese exclusive?
Its artwork was printed in Chinese and in no other language. Most cards sold only in China are Chinese prints of drawings sold elsewhere; as of September 25, 2026, 62 artworks have no other edition, and three more are announced for November 6, 2026.
How many Chinese exclusive Pokémon cards are there?
62 artworks as of September 25, 2026: 60 in Simplified Chinese and 2 in Traditional Chinese, and three more, N's Plan, Hilda and Misty's Psyduck, are announced for November 6, 2026. A list of card numbers is longer, because Gem Pack prints some drawings in several finishes: Captain Pikachu alone has 14 cards for four drawings.
Are Simplified and Traditional Chinese cards the same?
No. They are two separate editions with different sets and numbers: Simplified Chinese for mainland China since October 28, 2022, Traditional Chinese for Taiwan, Hong Kong and Macau since October 9, 2019. Traditional Chinese kept the original Pokémon GO art because the game launched there.
Can you play Chinese cards in tournaments?
Mainland events accept only Simplified Chinese cards. In Hong Kong and Macau, since October 1, 2024, a deck must be entirely Traditional Chinese or entirely English, Energy included. At Play! Pokémon Championship Series events outside Asia, Chinese is not a legal card language for local players (as of September 2026), though mainland qualifiers could play Chinese cards at Worlds 2026.
Which Chinese exclusive is the rarest?
The Mew ex promo 003/SV-P has the smallest published run of any Chinese exclusive artwork: 1,510 copies, drawn by lottery from March to December 2025. Two Supporter promos had smaller runs, 1,500 each (Iono 087/SV-P and Rika 088/SV-P), but both reprint Japanese drawings.
