Nothing here came out of a booster pack: a vending machine handed over a printed sheet, and the buyer peeled three cards off it. The name collectors use comes from that machine, but the set's own name is Expansion Sheet. Eighteen numbered sheets make up the series and each one always holds the same three cards, so completing it means finding all eighteen rather than opening enough packs. Six places in Kanto are shared out across them, three sheets apiece, and the Pokémon on a sheet belong to the place named on its back: Professor Oak's laboratory, Viridian Forest, Mount Moon, the Safari Zone, Cerulean Cave and Celadon City. A block of cardboard damage counters and markers came attached to every sheet. The card stock is glossy rather than the matte board used for booster cards.
