Three months after the blue sheets came the red ones, sold from the same machines in the same way. Rock Tunnel, the Power Plant, the Seafoam Islands, Victory Road, Saffron City and Cinnabar Island supply the backs of this run. Thirty-six cards again, three to a sheet across eighteen sheets, with a strip of cardboard counters attached to each. The backs of these first two series also carry play tips and advertising for the boosters. Many of the sheet cards were never sold outside Japan, and those that were came back later as Wizards Black Star Promos given out through the Pokémon League. Naoyo Kimura painted the Zapdos here as a night scene on a steel gantry rather than the open sky the bird usually gets.
