Quick Starter Pikachu (Quick Starter Gift Set 1998)

About this card

It came in the Red Deck of the Quick Starter Gift Set, a box of two decks named after Pokémon Red and Green, whose cards were printed on unglossed stock and stripped of their rarity symbols. That is what makes this Pikachu worth a second look: after the Pokédex number at the foot, where the World Hobby Fair sheet prints a small star, there is nothing at all. Ken Sugimori's picture is untouched, the same airborne Pikachu with one white bolt behind it, which leaves the absent star as the only difference a scan can show.
