About this card
Only the finish separates the two printings: the copies handed round at the 1999 Tropical Mega Battle are on plain matte stock, where the CoroCoro insert of two years earlier is glossy. Tomoaki Imakuni was at that tournament in costume, playing casual games with a deck built on confusion. Takumi Akabane's photograph made this the first Pokemon card to show a real person, and when the card was rewritten for the Game Boy he was given a line of his own, asking children around the world who is cuter, Pikachu or him.
