No.1 Trainer (Pokemon Card Game Official Tournament 1997)

About this card

Mitsuhiro Arita puts Pikachu on a podium numbered one, arm straight up, a gold cup held above its head against a green foil sky. The certificate underneath does more than congratulate: it states that presenting the card entitles the bearer to priority entry into later official tournaments, so the prize doubled as a pass. Two small stars in the bottom corner mark a rarity almost nothing else in the Japanese game carries. Arita painted the second and third places separately, dropping the cup to chest height and changing its metal each time.
