About this card
Benimaru Itoh works in stipple and hatching, and his Mewtwo turns its head back over one shoulder inside a yellow halo, pale spheres floating on either side, jagged green bolts and small red blots breaking up the black behind. Japan issued two different Mewtwo promos within a week of each other in May 1997, and what separates them is the painting: the Fan Book card is Ken Sugimori's, this magazine one is Itoh's. Itoh's crossed to America three years later, on the card packed with the home video of the first film, where the cinema giveaway had used Sugimori's.
