Bulbasaur (CoroCoro Best Photo Contest 1999)

About this card

The line at the foot of the card says Photo, not Illus, and the name after it is Yuuki Tanaka, a reader rather than an artist. The picture was taken inside Pokémon Snap on the Nintendo 64 and mailed to a CoroCoro contest, so the two Bulbasaur nosing at the red apple are leaning over an item the photographer threw at them, and the whole scene is rendered in N64 polygons. Winners had their screenshots printed as real cards, credited by name under the banner of the Best Photo Contest. Pokédex number 001 sits in the corner where a set number would normally go, because there is no set.
