Articuno (Tropical Mega Battle,Regional Kamex Mega Battle,Challenge Road 1998,1999)

About this card

Articuno had been a phone card once already, in the autumn of 1997, when a strategy guide written for adult players carried an insert asking readers to post a survey back to Media Factory and drew its winners from the replies. This second one prints an attack called Freeze Dry, a move the video games would not introduce until Generation VI. Ken Sugimori has the bird banking with both wings fully open and the long tail unrolled behind it, and Blizzard cuts both ways: heads and the opposing bench takes ten each, tails and your own does.
