The first of the two gym expansions puts a leader's name in front of the Pokémon they own, with a portrait of that leader in the corner of the card and their badge behind it. Stadium cards start here too, the Trainer subclass that stays on the table and changes the rules for both players at once. It was also the first Japanese expansion to have ready-built theme decks of its own, though the Pokémon Gym decks for Brock and Misty had gone on sale six months before the booster, and the first whose set symbol differs from the one Wizards later printed abroad. Misty, Erika, Brock and Lt. Surge account for almost every card, with three of Team Rocket's own Pokémon slipped in among them. One Trainer card, Misty's Tears, carries a Ken Sugimori silhouette that was judged unsuitable abroad and swapped for a Squirtle catching the tears.
