Venusaur (Pokemon Trading Card Game Guidebook 1998)

About this card

A programming error left this Venusaur unobtainable inside the Game Boy game it was designed for, and every printing it has on cardboard came bound into a strategy guide. Its power clears every special condition from the defending Pokémon as well as from its own side, which is what the line at the bottom describes: a scent off the flower that calms whoever is fighting. Ken Sugimori paints it roaring under a dark sky reddening at one edge, and only that sky takes the foil, where the English printing went holographic across the whole picture.
