Elite Four Trainer (Battle Road 2002)

About this card

Photographs of real people are rare on Pokémon cards, and this one carries four at once. They had finished at the top of the Master Trainers League, the adult bracket the Battle Road opened in 2002, and the card's Japanese name reads four heavenly kings, the phrase the games use for the Elite Four. A printed line above the photograph then records where the holder of this copy finished, which was second in the national decider. The league was run in that form only that year, and the card was not repeated.
